Oh Land - Rainbow
so its been a while now...and i much regret ever having taken such a long time to start blogging again. I'm very much ashamed of not following through on my promise to keep my posts regular...especially since the last post promises many many new posts to my non existent readers. anyhow. lots has happened since the last blog post....i have decided to revise what little french i know, again , i decided i need to learn to sew so i'm gonna start small with a canvas bag-that shouldnt be too hard- lol. and i'm preparing a series of prints that will hopefully be accepted into one of the private galleries in durban. will post images of them a soon as i'm done, and will also update my progress on learning how to sew properly. fingers crossed. :) in the mean time i thought people might like to know what i'm listening to at the moment.....oh land is the name of the band and they are great.

Moving On Up: DALE MCCARTHY
So.... I generally don't have an interest in women's fashion, and neither do i have an affinity for the colour pink but after a little Facebook stalking on my friend, Joyce's profile, my perspective has...to some extent been changed. His name is Dale McCarthy; not only a pretty face and genuinely nice character but more than that his work is quite literally amazing. At the 2009 DUT Fashion Show he got the award for the Best Technical Range and was also a Top 20 Finalist at the Vodacom Durban July Young Designers Competition. Last year he took another step forward in his career by furthering his 2009 achievement by making it into the Top 10 of the latter mentioned competition. Other than that he has showcased in a few venues around Durban, one of which is the Durban Art Gallery and also at the JnB Met in Cape Town. Furthermore his Fashion illustrations are awesome.
Heres a link to his portfolio: www.wix.com/mccarthydc/dale_mccarthy_portfolio
have a look at the fashion show video link.....its quite awesome.

REVAMP!
so a while ago i asked a friend of mine to join me on this blog, but unfortunately she hasnt blogged about anything yet :(.....so.... i've decided to change things up a little. muhahah-ha. moving on. the blogs dynamics are going to change and i think i'm going to start concentrating a little more on 'me, myself and i'...and few of my friends, instead of the greater realms of artistic production at large. this change i guess was kinda brought on by an epiphany i had this morning when i thought to myself; "if i'm going too change the world then i'm going to have to start with me, even if it means boring the hell out of my nonexistent readers" lol.... so for those who get lost and find themselves on my blog....thank you :) and expect to see a new lookbook look posted here soon. chow.

RAG AND BONE MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK

its been a while since i last blogged. i've bin bogged down with a lot of work and i need a distraction so here i am again. :) i realised that i also forgot to post any images from this show . so heres the edited version with photo reference. what i liked most about this show is the fact that the duo at rag and bone looked to a solid reference for inspiration.....and i know lots of people may say that the mens kilt has been done a million times before , but i think the difference is being able to pull it off as successfully as they did for this show. they seem to be at the forefront of reinventing the silhouette in mens fashion.

MUMFORD AND SONS

Since they formed in December 2007, the members of Mumford & Sons have shared a common purpose: to make music that matters, without taking themselves too seriously. With each release i find their music gets brighter, bolder and brawnier, with an increasing focus on their empassioned and intimate lyrics. their certainly a band to take a listen to... and hopefully one day (fingers crossed) they'll make their way down to SA....

ASA:BEAUTIFUL IMPERFECTION

NIGERIAN BORN SINGER ASA WHO SANG THE GREAT HIT JAILER HAS RELEASED A NEW ALBMU TITLED "BEAUTIFUL IMPERFECTION. BE SURE TO LOOK OUT FOR IT ON MUSIC STORE SHELVES. ANYTHING PRODUCED BY THIS LADY IS WORTH A LISTEN TO. AND IF YOU HAVENT HEARD ANYTHING FROM THE PREVIOUS ALBUM DOWNLOAD(LEGALLY) THE SONGS :"360 DEGREES" AND "FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN". SIMPLY GREAT.
WALTER VAN BIERENDONCK FALL/WINTER @ PARSI FASHION WEEK
I REALLY DO LOVE IT WHEN A DESIGNER PUTS ON A RADICAL SHOW WITH A GREAT SENSE OF GOOD TASTE AND IMMACULATE BALANCE BETWEEN WEARABLE AND CREATIVE VISION. AND EVEN MORE THAN THAT A SHOW THAT GOES OUT OF HIS WAY TO BREAK SOME OF THE CURRENT NORM'S AND CHALLENGE THE FASHION WORLD. KUDOS. WALTER ,HOWEVER YOU SPELL HIS SURNAME, IS ONE DESIGNER TO WATCH OUT FOR.....I'LL BE KEEPING TABS ON HIM FOR A LONG TIME TO COME.

although i have always found issey miyake scents more favourable than his clothes, this fall he's come up with something that quite unique. my only objection is the fact that the boots his mare make the looks a little too heavy on the eyes. other than that, the balance between wearable and contemporaneity is uncannily good.
